The Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus) caught in Swinoujscie

Last time on Swinoujscie beach was caught a 1cy Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus). It got metal and colour rings. Maybe for foreign ringers is nothing special but in Poland we ring LBBGs rare. In 2008 were ringed just 3 birds, in 2007 none. We look forward to hearing from spanish ringreaders about this gull :)

Guys, what would you do if the bird escaped off your hands with the rubber band still on its bill? Would you expect it to survive long? Think.

The comment about the rubber band prompts me to mention the best way to control biting species is to use a tube or plastic pipe of appropriate length and diameter. Very effective for holding raptors too, where the feet are the problem.
