CRringed Yellow-billed Chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus) in French Alps

Mont Blanc
Yesterday i came back from ski-holidays in France (Morillon). Was beautifull, lot's of snow and wide pistes, many bottles of wine :) and international atmosphere (greetings to colleagues from New Zealand and Beth from Bristol).

Had also some time to ringreading. I read colourings combination on Yellow-billed Chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus) [left leg green, red, right leg black, white] in Flaine. If You know sth about this bird please let me know.

PS If you went skiing to the Alps, take your rings and some bread with.

Finnish Great Black-backed Gull on the Wloclawek dam

Some news from central Poland. On the end of November Michał Radziszewski observed a finnish Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus) on Wloclawek dam. The bird had been ringed in Espoo on summer 2010 as adult.

The Wloclawek dam on Wisła river is one the bigest hydroelectric powerstation in Poland. There is also a gulls colony: Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) & Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnas) and their hybrids.

The "Bird feeder action 2010" - let's start ringing!

Next weekend we are starting with the "Bird feeder action 2010" in Poland. It's kind of play among Polish ringers, who catch birds using mistnets by their bird feeders. Rules are quite easy: You can situated your feeder wherever you want (forest, garden etc.) and feed whatever you want (sunflower, corn, pork fat etc.). The most important is the score - numbers of ringed birds and recaps. By the way we weigh and measure birds, so after few years hope to write nice publication.
