It has been there since the 30.01.2012 and 8 days later moved to the De Wijde Blik Lake near Amsterdam, Netherlands (643 km from ringing place). Thanks to Chris Meewis for information and nice pictures.

Coots fly back home

Polish project of CR Coots (Fulica atra) satisfyied our expectations. Personally i have marked just 21 birds since autumn 2009 and quick got a few long distance recoveries.

Now Coots (Fulica atra) which were banded in the autumn and winter flying back to breeding areas. The best example is the bird C66. It was ringed in the late winter near seasite in Swinoujscie. Today got the information from Christer Herremo that this bird was observed in Karsklona (Sweden).

The coot C60 in Netherlands

We've recived next information about the coot with white neckband C60. On the 1st of January 2010 was in Germany (Bremen) and after 26 days was observed in Netherlands (Groningen). Nearly 300 km in 26 days it isn't long way but if you look at the map, you can easily see that the whole way is a stright line.

Thanks Rob Koelman, Klaas van Dijk and Ana Buren to report.

Next Coot (Fulica atra) found in Germany

Next coot from the West Pomerania (Poland) was observed in Germany, exactly in Dresden. We are very glad becouse of the Interrex nackbands using in the project and them high read efficiency. Just several coots were banding in the West Pomerania and results as you can see are amaizing = 3 long distance recoveries.

Our coot in Bremen! [Germany]

Just 2 months passed since i have ringed the coot (Fulica atra) with C60 neckband in Szczecin. On the 31th of December 2009 and the 1st of January 2010 the bird was observed in Bremen. It's nearly 400 km from the ringign place.

Results in the north-west Poland are amazing! Actually just 10 colourringed coots give us 1 long distance message.

Thanks Kai Dallmann to report.

Too warm to catching coots

There is presently quite warm in Poland. More than 10°C in november it's pretty much for polish conditions. Last weekend Łukasz tried to catch coots at Nowogardzkie lake. It's great place to catch them. We always ring there at least 3/day using bread & hands or fishing line. Unlucky this time coots weren't hungry. Birds were swimming on the middle of the lake instead near coast. Łukasz hardly caught just 1. Hope soon will be a little bit colder :)
